Four Paintings is a series of abstract animations created in 2017.
Ideally, each segment would exist in looped form, alone in a space to be experienced. the paintings use shape, color, sound, and movement to create a vignette —each one with a punchline.

I spent a few years working in grocery stores; which included receiving pallets of goods and breaking them down while taking inventory of the manifest. The END sticker is what is printed at the end of each roll of labels that indicate the product on each box and link it to the inventory list. At the end of a night-stocking shift, these stickers would be scattered throughout the store, trashed and insignificant. I was honestly met with confusion when I began to save them from the trash. I convinced my coworkers to do the same on shifts that I wasn't there, and would return to my locker full of STACKS each week. As the collection grew I quickly took note of the varieties, imperfections, and stories. In my store, white was most common with blue coming in second might a wide margin. Orange was rare. I transferred from MA to NYC and brought this obsession with me, swiftly onboarding my new crew to collect ENDs. The obsession would spark potent conversation around currency and value, and I surprisingly cultivated a value around these labels that others began to respect. By the end of my time at said job –I had quite a dense stock. I decided to scan and archive them using the default number system of my scanner. A large portion was lost in a move, but the plenty I still have are slowly processed when I make the time. I have made my own variations and abstractions, including two hand-painted versions scaled up 100X (not shown). The trajectory of this work is unclear, but the process has been satisfying and I hope to do more with these labels moving forward. IF YOU HAVE ENDS HIT ME UP
